Venture Concept No. 2

Opportunity: Sports is a growing entity in America and as more and more individuals start playing sports and fans become more involved in the game, people will need a place to et all the information possible. Parents of high school children need a place where they can get the scores of their children’s games. These same parents will also enjoy collegiate and professional sports. The kids that are taking part in the sports will want to have the ability to see how the sports teams they are playing against in the following week did during the previous week.  All of these individuals want to have a single place to go to get all of this information. What else do these people want, to have the ability to watch all of the collegiate and professional games on the go. Sports have very strange hours and at times people can’t be at home or at a sports bar watching. Having all the games on a single app that you can tune in and watch at any time will ease this for everyone. The window of this opportunity could technically be year round because there are always sports occurring.
Innovation: Create an app that encompasses all of the previous stated aspects. From including all high school sports scores, college and professional sports scores and statistics of players along with a live feed of the games. I would also like to include an area that makes it capable to live stream sporting events in the professional and collegiate level. If there is enough interest I will then include high school. This will make it that there will be a monthly fee.
Venture: I have created an app that allows individuals to see the scores and statistics of collegiate and professional sports and remote high school sports. There will be basic rules and positions for the sports to help teach individuals about the games.
Secret Sauce: My secret sauce that it will make it difficult for competitors to copy me is that before I launch I am going to have people working in the remote high school areas in order for all scores to be up to date and that way there is never a period where a specific area does not have the high school scores for the area. This also shows that I do not believe a specific area for sports is better than any other.
What’s Next: Obviously getting television rights to air the collegiate and professional sports games will be nearly impossible, the next thing I hope to make for the venture is writing books about how to play a sport, the rules of the sports, and the positions. I think this will broaden my consumer base to people that may want to get involved in sports but feels too uncomfortable to ask people about sports.

What’s Next For Me: In the future I would hope that I would remain the CEO of the venture but also work with sports marketing for a specific team.

I decided to add the live stream and monthly subscription fee to my venture due to the feedback I got. A lot of people liked the app but one comment by Richard made a good note that I had not explained how I would make money from the venture.

peace. love. sports.

  1. Hi Leigha,

Very interesting concept indeed; as parents grow ever more busy and stressed out due our faster pace of life and career focused culture this is one way parents could feel more present in their loved ones life and also track progress of their kids so they can intervene when necessary. I also like how you address the secret sauce and what thinks will set you apart. Best of luck. If you want to check out my post:

  2. Hi Leigha,
I can tell you are passionate about the world of sports and that is the first step towards sustaining a successful venture. I think there is a need for a one stop shop/app that will update people on their favourite or local teams. I think the thing that will set you apart is the high school aspect. I think there is so much commercial competition when it comes to collegiate and professional sports that its not a great place to start, maybe after establishing a brand with the high school. I think if you created an app for highschoolers to upload there stats, highlights, and game footage all in one then you could have a hit. Theres a website called hudl that you should research if you are not already familiar. But I think if you created future forward app where highschoolers and fans could simply check and enjoy then you might have something. Great job! If you have the time check out my blog:

  3. Hi Leigha,

I think I have peer reviewed one of your posts before, and I loved this idea (and still do). Sports are huge, and I don't think high school sports have enough coverage in terms of access from remote locations. If I were a parent, and couldn't make it to a school game, I would love to be able to find the score and information quickly and easily. Great concept, and I hope you can go through with it! If you would like, check out my post:http://ament3003.blogspot.com/2016/04/venture-concept-no-2.html

  4. Hi Leigha!
What a wonderful post! This might actually be one of the better structured ones that I've seen yet. I find your concept quite interesting! I also really enjoy seeing how your passion of sports comes through with your typing and post. As we've learned in this class in the past, passion is one of the most important things for a venture. It's what'll keep you motivated and driven to continue perfecting your concept! Great job and good luck!
